Pernicious Ideology
Installation
Mixed media installation
Pernicious Ideology explores the parallels between mould growth and the spread of far-right symbolism within Britain. Developed through a series of living mould cultures grown across fragments of the St George's Cross, the project examines how repetition, visibility, and environmental conditions contribute to the normalisation of ideas over time. The work was informed by research into the “Raise the Colours” movement and the increasing presence of nationalist imagery throughout public space. Rather than documenting these symbols directly, the project uses mould as a material metaphor for ideological spread.
