CANTON TYPE COMMONS

Film

Video, posters, stamps and cards.

CANTON TYPE COMMONS positions branding as a medium for cultural service. Rooted in research into everyday street lettering practices in Guangdong, the project identifies twelve Chinese characters drawn from daily use and shared values. Through their visual presence and semantic layers, it explores how written characters operate within everyday environments to convey regional cultural sensibilities and the lived atmosphere of the region.

Dim Sum of the Day

Publication

Publication and stickers.

Dim Sum of the Day reimagines Cantonese yum cha culture as a playful archive of food, memory and social ritual. Through the format of recommending dim sum to readers, the publication introduces the Cantonese way of being particular about food, alongside the everyday humour and way of life behind the teahouse experience. It uses dim sum as a warm and accessible entry point into how people gather, share and connect around the table.
