Hard to Swallow?

Film

Compilation of short films

Hard to Swallow? is a collection of satirical short films created through collage stop motion animation using found media and original photography. The work explores a range of political and social issues shaped by contemporary culture & current affairs. Drawing on humour & visual storytelling, the films examine themes of political performance & power, encouraging audiences to engage with complex subjects through accessible comedy. The project aims to provoke discussion and contribute to social and political change. Rather than presenting fixed answers, the films create space for conversation and critical reflection, inviting viewers to question the systems that shape everyday life. At a time of increasing division and uncertainty, Hard to Swallow? uses satire to encourage connection and community while acknowledging the seriousness of the issues it addresses. Through comedy and discomfort, the work makes difficult conversations feel approachable and hopes to open a natural dialogue.
