Night of the City Fox

Publication

Book, posters, and bookmarks

This illustrated children’s book was created to celebrate the urban foxes of London. I had grown fond of watching the foxes outside my window and was inspired to write and illustrate a storybook exploring the day-to-day lives of urban foxes and how they adapt in order to survive in the city. The project also reflects the importance of sharing urban spaces with wildlife at a time when many people living in cities feel increasingly disconnected from nature. By drawing attention to the quiet presence of foxes within everyday urban life, the book aims to offer a reminder to children of today that nature continues to exist alongside us, even in densely populated environments.

Le Praxinoscope

Installation

Praxinoscope and book

This praxinoscope was made to honour physical craft, as it requires active participation from the viewer in order to function, unlike animation viewed on a digital screen. This sustained interaction encourages a stronger connection to the object’s physicality through direct sensory engagement. This outcome is a response to my dissertation research, which explored the continued relevance and importance of tangible craft in the contemporary world.
